I don't use curved ones either. The guy who taught me, used flat breakers, and his wife was heard, at least 10 times each evening, telling someone that they had their pliers upside down. I quickly figured out that if I used flat pliers, that wouldn't be a problem. I find that I can groze fairly easily. Tried it with the curved ones, and didn't find them any better - So, I go flat out, and never upside down.
