Becky,
San Jose (SJC) or San Francisco (SFO) are the two airports with SFO being the closest. I found SJC prices to be cheaper, but for convenience and proximity, SFO was my choice. I also rented a car and stayed not too far away (@ 10 minutes drive) at a Residence Inn w/kitchenette and free breakfast every morning. to me it was worth.
Take the class; you will not regret it. And it is well worth the effort and money. It was the most difficult and best thing I ever did for learning stained glass; it's like stained glass boot camp! IIRC, I was there 15 days, because I was coming from Central TX and wanted to make the most of it. Absolutely no regrets (and I've been trying like heck to get back)!!
take a look at all the first project's in the 'gallery on the ABASG website. That alone should convince you. It convinced me.
