I'm no expert, but I have an opinion, so I'll share it
I did the lamp workshop at Glass Visions a couple of years ago. We used an Odyssey form and none of the wax, glue, tape, pins, etc. that some places will tell you to use to create a shade. So, on one hand, Odyssey forms are reusable, take few (if any) prep steps to get started, but are expensive. If you want to make more than one shade of a single pattern - seems like a great idea. Maybe you can find a store that rents forms or another way to borrow a form.
Worden forms seem to be flimsey to me and take effort to prep. I have heard that the full forms are better than the slices, but I have no experience with them, nor can I remember specifically why I was told to steer clear of those. The wordens seem cheaper, and if you want to do a different patterns with the same basic shape, I believe you can reuse the main form and just replace the pattern on the form. I think the effort to prep the form out weighs any reuse and/or cost savings. If I am cutting a few hundred pieces of glass, whe I'm ready to assemble, I want to be able to START, not have to stop to prep a form.
You can see some of the Worden instrustions at www.wordensystem.com if you want to see what they recommend for form prep.
